- I had a very silent christmas and an awesome, awesome New Year's Eve.

- While studying for my finals I scored two jobs at IKEA!

The first one is for January and February, I help with the transition from an empty blue and yellow steel plate box to a fully fledged furniture house, full time. Germany apparently needs most of what I earn there to feed the poor and build streets, but it actually is a great job, if utterly exhausting.
Just two tidbits: Yesterday the power kept on going off, but people had been warned and given flashlights, for it went *completely* dark inside, since they, as they called it, had "shut the outer skin tightly" for the first time. And while we were working in the dark as if lightless night in the middle of the day was nothing to comment on, the intercom system was being tested. (Bored guy's or tense girl's voice:) "Guys, ignore the following announcement... again..." (Calm and collected actress's voice:) "Your attention please. Because of a technical failure, we have to ask you to leave the building immediatley. Please follow the emergency exit signs and orders from the staff. Children who had been in the Smalland have already been accompanied outside the building."
After a while, all the saxonian construction workers, who still built the house while we were already filling it, accompanied the woman's voice every time. "Yör ätenschun bleese!..." XD
Sounded a bit like a praying crowd, if overly bored and amused. And saxonian.
Second tidbit: We get dibs on all the furniture and stuff that was falsely built up for decoration purposes and then wasn't needed, and all the stuff which has writings on the packages or which is in packages that have been damaged. For 50% of the original price. OMG!! I wanted to *earn* money! Not spend it all!

The second job starts immediatley after the grand opening, I'll help out at the snackbar for 400 Euro/month and 40h/m.

- I finished my studies with a straight B. Minutes later Prof. E. offered me a job for ten months, I start in April. YESH!!
I said yes before she even told me what I had to do (office work, mostly, 19h/week) and how much I would earn (around 800 netto). This is a dream come true.

- Last week, right after the final oral exam, I caught the influenza, the real one, with high fever and everything. Curious experience, I haven't had such a bad one in quite a while.

- I'm broke, I'm a week behind with everything, courtesy of the flu, my feet have some red skin left between all those blisters, I'm really really tired, I have three hours everyday, one in the morning to get ready, one in the evening to eat something and try to scratch at my to-do-list, one to get ready for bed.

- Just over a week from now she will be back.

- I'm happy.
